Heart-Wing Dragon-Fly

Heart-Wing is a love themed dragon-fly. She was created when I was asked to participate in the February 2020 invitational show at North End Gallery in Leonardtown, MD. The show included a Valentine’s Day themed mini show, “Little Works of Love”. I have an enduring love of exploring the concept of dragons, so I decided the show would be a good excuse to make a new dragon-fly. I was loath to go all out with the pink and hearts, though, so I kept it subtle with modified heart shapes for the wings and back markings. The colors began inspired by a natural gas flame, but became also smokey or sunset-like with the inclusion of purple.

Heart-Wing is made from super sculpey polymer clay, with wire reinforced paper wings, and is painted with acrylics and polyurethane varnish for shine, durability, and water resistance. She is about 10cm (4”) long and 9cm (3.5”) tall.

Fruit-Bat-Phoenix creations are always created in a smoke and pet free home and will typically be shipped in reused/recycled packaging.
